Fiberglass fabrication services include diecutting or converting of glass fabrics, stitching, sewing, draping, laminating, assembly, hand lay-up, spray-up, and other processes for a variety of applications and industries. The glass in fiberglass is the same basic substance used in windows and glassware. Molten glass is extruded through ultra fine openings measured in microns, resulting in thread-like formations which can be woven together to form a rough cloth or patch. Different resins can then be added to the fiberglass material, allowing it to be formed and pressed into a fiberglass mold. Thus, by using a fiberglass fabrication service, fiberglass is manufactured. There are many different types of fiberglass. Examples include G10 fiberglass and neoprene coated fiberglass. G10 fiberglass is a glass-epoxy laminate which is specified for its extremely high strength and high dimensional stability over temperature. G10 fiberglass is difficult to cut or machine and may require special equipment. Neoprene coated fiberglass is heat resistant and has a high tensile strength. Fiberglass fabrication services are specified according to the properties of fiberglass to be fabricated such as its resistance to heat, electrical resistance, and it reactivity.

Fiberglass fabrication services include various types of processes that are conducted on fiberglass to enhance its properties. Fiberglass mixed with resins is called fiberglass resin, which can be used to form the shell of racing cars or other custom designs. Although fiberglass resists a wide range of chemicals and temperatures, it requires the right design, fabrication, and installation to match the appropriate application. For example, fiberglass may be subject to chemical attack from hydrolysis, oxidation, pyrolysis, or incompatible solutions. The proper resin/glass matrix will minimize chemical attack. Fiberglass used for car body work can be sanded smooth and painted to match the rest of the vehicle. Fiberglass car body may not have the inherent tensile strength of steel, but a skilled auto body repairman can often match the section repaired with fiberglass resin seamlessly with the rest of the car. Fiberglass resin can be specified as a thermosetting and thermoplastic resin. Fiberglass mixed with the appropriate resin is used to form a fiberglass tank. A fiberglass tank is used to keep certain chemicals and liquids. Different types of fiberglass can be made by using different fiberglass fabrication services.
